Judicial
Affairs
The
Ohio State University at Marion is an interdependent learning community consisting
of students, faculty, and staff. We are an institution with a culture and associated
expectations for behavior. It is expected that student conduct be one of the highest
integrity. Any student who chooses to enroll at the university also chooses to
become part of the community and its culture. The
mission of Judicial Affairs is one of education, focusing on student learning
through individual growth and accountability of behavior. The Code of Student
Conduct is the governing document that outlines the policies and procedures for
academic and student conduct on our campus. The
Code of Student Conduct is established to foster and protect the core missions
of the university, to foster the scholarly and civic development of the university's
students in a safe and secure learning environment, and to protect the people,
properties and processes that support the university and its missions. The core
missions of the university are research, teaching and learning, and service. Preservation
of academic freedom and free and open exchange of ideas and opinions for all members
of the university are central to these missions. For a more comprehensive understanding
of University policies and procedures, please review the Code
of Student Conduct. The
disciplinary procedures and sanctions for violation of rules and regulations are
designed for guidance or correction of behavior and to protect the rights of other
students within the university community, rather than for punishment. Students
in violation of university policies may have an administrative hearing or an appearance
before a peer judicial board. Students who have questions about policy violations
or the judicial process are encouraged to stop by the Office of Student Affairs.
