Scarlet Wave competes with NCAA D3
Bluffton University
First time for Scarlet Wave volleyball
program
With its third year volleyball program at Ohio State
Marion, the Scarlet Wave competed well against the Beavers of
Bluffton University. "We thought as a team that we played
well, but it was evident that they have an established team and
volleyball program at Bluffton University," states Coach Sisler.
"Coach Steve Yarnell has that program moving in the right
direction."
The Scarlet Wave consistently played good
defense throughout the evening digging up Bluffton's attacks, but
had difficulty blocking their middles. "Offensively in certain
rotations, we were able to accumulate rally points, in others, the
ball just wasn't falling for us. I give them credit for taking
away some of our strengths and keeping us from gaining any momentum,"
states Coach Sisler.
Bluffton wins the match with scores of 25-14,
15-25, 25-17, 25-17. |

Scarlet Wave suffers setback at
2008 Cougar Classic
Women's volleyball team not able to
overcome power deficit
The women's volleyball team travelled to Cincinnati,
Ohio to compete in the 2008 Cougar Classic at the University of
Cincinnati Clermont. The day proved to be a difficult
challenge for the Lady Wave as they fell in six straight sets to
NAIA member Indiana University East and 2006 / 2007 "Elite 8" USCAA
member UC Clermont.
"Indiana East had too much fire power for us
to handle, and our lack of a power game was not enough to overcome the
caliber of team that they have," states Coach Sisler. "UC
Clermont is currently at that same level too. Our team just
doesn't have enough to match up with them. But I give lots of
credit to our ladies who play their hearts out and played very scrappy
on defense."

Scarlet Wave Defeat the Patriots of USCAA member Southern State
Women's volleyball team continue to win
sets when needed
The current set record for the Scarlet Wave team is now
at 42-20 for the season as they defeat their southern USCAA
counterpart Southern State Community College in three straight sets;
25-22, 25-12, 25-20.
"Even when our team is not playing at
their best, they have always found a way to win each set," states coach Sisler.
The ladies know when it's time to execute our in-system offensive sets and
play up to their potential."

Scarlet Wave continue their winning ways at the 2008 Titan
Invitational
Women's volleyball team off to best
regular season start
The OSU Newark Titan Invitational (comprised of 8 Ohio
teams) became a haven for volleyball action on Sunday. The
Scarlet Wave battled through several opponents on their way to a 3-1
overall mark.
The team's first opponent Wilmington College
JV proved to be a challenge, but the Wave found a way to get by as
they won both sets 25-23, 25-13. Playing KSU Tuscarawas for
the third time this week became a struggle for the Wave, but the
Wave's experience helped push them through, winning both sets 25-20,
25-18. The toughest challenge of the day came from our sister
campus OSU Newark. The Wave was pushed to their limit, but
came out on top 26-24, 18-25, 15-11.
In semi-final play, the #1 seeded Scarlet Wave
found themselves pitted against Ohio University Chillicothe who
defeated Ohio University Lancaster to advance to the tournament.
The Wave jumped out early winning set one 25-16. However, the
tide changed as the Hilltoppers found momentum and changed the
outcome by defeating the Wave in sets two & three 25-19, 15-13.

Scarlet Wave finish with 4-1 mark in the Lady Falcon
Invitational
Women's volleyball team falls short of championship
The first match of the final day of the Lady Falcon
Invitational pitted the Scarlet Wave against last year's #5 USCAA
championship team Taylor University Ft. Wayne. Taylor's power
game was too much for the Scarlet Wave in set one as they defeated
the Wave 25-19. Defensive adjustments by the Scarlet Wave
proved successful in winning sets two & three 25-21, 26-24.
Taylor won set four 25-19, but fell short to the Scarlet Wave's
smart play in the fifth set 13-15.
"Our ladies played extremely hard and gave it their
all in this match," states coach Sisler. "We knew how good
Taylor was and wanted to use this match as a measuring stick to see
how good we can be this season. Our ladies felt really good
afterwards knowing that we went undefeated in pool play, and beat a
really well coached Taylor team."
The second match of the day became a 5-set re-match
with Great Lakes Christian College. The Scarlet Wave team
playing with only 7 players and without OH Sara Snodgrass ran out of
gas at the end. Match scores: 25-20, 23-25, 25-16, 13-25,
7-15.
"It's unfortunate for us that we played with only 7
players in this match because it was evident that we ran out of gas.
Playing the way we did against Taylor used up a lot of our energy.
Credit goes to the ladies from Great Lakes because they came to play
and momentum was going their way in the final two sets," states
Coach Mark Sisler.

The final match of the Invitational pitted the
Scarlet Wave against opening opponent Calumet College of St. Joseph.
The Calumet team pushed the Scarlet Wave to another five sets.
However, the Wave found a way to get one more push at the end and
won the match 25-23, 22-25, 25-22, 21-25, 15-10.
"Overall, this year's Lady Falcon Invitational was
tremendous. All four teams were very good and the level of
play was outstanding. Every Scarlet Wave team member should be
proud of the way they played, and hopefully this will be a bright
spot in our season's success," states Coach Sisler.

Scarlet Wave competes well in first day at Lady Falcon
Invitational
Women's volleyball team off to 2-0 start
The Scarlet Wave began pool play against NAIA opponent
Calumet College of St. Joseph. The Scarlet Wave came out
strong and barely captured set one 25-23. The Crimson Wave of
St. Joseph came back and captured sets two & three 25-16, 25-22.
After being down 2-1, the Scarlet Wave came alive with their offense
in set four and won 25-15. The Scarlet Wave put it all
together in the final set by jumping out to a 9-5 lead and holding
on for a win 15-12.
The second match of the evening pitted the Scarlet
Wave against NCCAA opponent Great Lakes Christian College. The
Scarlet Wave continued playing great defense throughout the match
and won all three sets 25-21, 33-31, 25-21.
"Our team really came to play tonight and the results
showed," states Coach Mark Sisler. "Every member of our team
played with a lot of intensity and their hearts were in it
throughout the night."

Scarlet Wave defeat Ashland University club team
Women's volleyball team victorious in first home match
The Scarlet Wave took care of business as they defeated
a very good club team from Ashland University; 25-18, 25-20, 25-21.
"Ashland University brought their best club team that I have
seen in our first three years with the volleyball program. We
had to bring our 'A' game, and thankfully we came through with good
defense to continue our winning ways," states Coach Mark Sisler.

Scarlet Wave finish as runner-up champion
Women's volleyball team begins 2008 season strong despite
loss to UC Clermont
The Scarlet Wave began the final round of the tournament
with a rematch against PSU Beaver. The lady lions of PSU
Beaver showed why they won 20+ matches last season as they battled
the Scarlet Wave in 5 sets. After being down 2-1 in match
play, the Scarlet Wave fought strong to end the match with a win;
21-25, 25-21, 24-26, 25-20, 15-12.
The championship match was a repeat of Friday's play
against USCAA member UC Clermont. The lady cougars of
Cincinnati Clermont took the championship of the Penn State
University pre-season tournament by defeating the Scarlet Wave;
25-20, 14-25, 16-25, 15-25.
"This tournament was important in
terms of building confidence for us to begin our 2008 season. We have
a lot of matches yet to play this season and it's important for us
to get off to a good start," states Coach Mark Sisler. "Hopefully
this tournament will inspire our ladies to compete even harder as the season
progresses."

Women's volleyball team travels to Penn State University
The Scarlet Wave established themselves as they came out
strong in their first match of the season by winning in three
straight sets against Penn State University Beaver; 25-8, 25-19,
25-16.
The Scarlet Wave continued their winning ways of the
evening by winning the first set against the University of
Cincinnati Clermont 25-18. However, the lady cougars of UC
Clermont made the right adjustments in defense to narrowly defeat
the Scarlet Wave in the following three sets; 23-25, 14-25, 23-25.

Scarlet Wave finish off season strong despite loss to Clark State
Women's volleyball team finishes with record winning 16-9 season
Ranked third in the Ohio Community College Athletic Conference (OCCAC), the Eagles of Clark State Community College visited the home of the Scarlet
Wave and came away with a narrow victory in a hard fought match.
In the first two games the Scarlet Wave played competitively but couldn't find an answer to the balanced attack from the Eagles.
The Wave fell 24-30, 20-30 respectively in games one and two. Game three was all Scarlet Wave as they brought out their best efforts and won
convincingly 30-20. Game four proved to be a battle between the two teams as they changed leads six times before the Eagles finished off with
the last 6 points to win the match.
"Game three was our best game of the season. This game proved to our team that we can play at a higher level, it was just
unfortunate that we couldn't sustain it through the rest of tonight's match," states Coach Mark Sisler.
"Besides the loss tonight, we had a great season. This team was great to be with, and each of our team members feel really good
about their overall team performance throughout the season. We have made great strides in only our second year with a volleyball program, and
we're now believing that better things are coming. Next season is going to be exciting!" explained Coach Mark Sisler.

Scarlet Wave triumphant over Ohio Christian
University
Women’s volleyball team now 16-8 on the season
The Ohio State Marion Scarlet Wave
women's volleyball team recently traveled to Circleville, Ohio to compete
against National Christian Collegiate Athletic Association (NCCAA) member
team Ohio Christian University, and won the match in 3 sets.
The Ohio Christian Trailblazers, who
were undefeated in regional play with an impressive 12-0 record on the
season, at the time of the match, now turn their attention to their
conference tournament with a #1 ranking still intact, despite the defeat to
Ohio State Marion.
Knowing the importance of matching up with an
impressive team, the Scarlet Wave jumped out early with a balanced offensive
attack. However, late in game one the Scarlet Wave managed to survive
a string of late rallies by the trailblazers by finishing out with 3
straight points to win 30-26. Many lead changes were evident during
game two before the Wave once again finished out strong winning 30-27.
A strong defense in game three helped the Wave win 30-23.
"Our ladies knew that this match was important in
terms of building confidence. We have only one more match to play and
then our season is over," states Coach Mark Sisler. "Hopefully
this win will inspire our ladies to finish out the season on a positive note."

Ohio State Marion women suffer defeat to Columbus
State Community College
Women’s volleyball team now 15-8
The Scarlet Wave women's volleyball team competed against #2 OCCAC (Ohio
Community College Athletic Conference) member Columbus State Community
College. CSCC entered the match with an impressive overall record of
26-10.
"This year's Columbus State Community College team is
very impressive. They are the best team on our schedule that we have
played. It became very difficult for us to score because of their
overall good team play, particularly their back-row players," stated Coach
Mark Sisler.
"We can use this team's (CSCC) performance as a
benchmark for next year's Scarlet Wave team; which will only get better with
the return of many of our players," explained Coach Sisler.
Game scores were 20-30, 19-30, 14-30 respectively.

Ohio State Marion women claim fifth straight
victory
Women’s volleyball team expand their winning ways 15-7
The Scarlet Wave women's volleyball team have won their last 15 of 18 games with a solid
performance against a University of Miami Hamilton team. The Scarlet
Wave jumped out immediately in game one scoring the game's first 8 points.
The Scarlet Wave then finished the game off winning 30-9 with Nikki Boblenz
serving 20 of the game's 30 points.
The remainder of the match was further controlled by
the strong play of the Scarlet Wave's defense. Serving also
continued to be successful against Miami as the Scarlet Wave won 30-25,
30-21 respectively.
"Our ladies started out strong today, and it
mentally gave us a boost," states Coach Mark Sisler. "Hopefully this
will carry over into the remaining part of our schedule, where we play two
formidable junior college opponents."
"Over the past 5 matches, our non-starters have really
come through with solid performances. It allows us to mix up our
line-up and still be very effective on the court," explains Sisler.

"Our ladies have really enjoyed themselves this
season, and tonight's match was a reflection of that, states Coach Mark
Sisler.
With the victory, the Scarlet Wave have been informed
by the United States Collegiate Athletic Association that they have finished

Scarlet Wave women's volleyball survives hard
fought match
Women’s volleyball team now 12-7
The Ohio State University at Marion Scarlet Wave women's volleyball team
defeated sister campus Ohio State Mansfield, winning the best of five games,
Tuesday evening at the Alber Student Center on the Marion Campus .
Wednesday's match proved to be a hard fought battle
between two good teams. The Scarlet Wave started out well in game one
leading throughout, but their lead wasn't safe enough as they squeaked out a
win 30-28. The Scarlet Wave repeated game one until OSU Mansfield scored 7
straight points to rally back and defeat the Marion team 30-25. The Scarlet
Wave responded well after game two to defeat Mansfield soundly 30-19. Game
four became a pivotal point in the match when OSU Mansfield came out
aggressively against the Marion team, pinning them down early 17-9. Marion
responded back strongly by running off 8 straight points. However, the
Scarlet Wave became mistake prone and eventually fell 26-30. The Scarlet
Wave used their previous match experience in game five's by putting together
several great rallies and pulling ahead to win 15-9.
With the victory, the Scarlet Wave are now 12-7 and
currently ranked # 8 in the country among all USCAA institutions. Visit the
USCAA for stats and rankings on the web at:
http://www.theuscaa.com/stats/pollwvb.htm
"Tonight’s match was a battle. Both teams played
their hearts out, and I give Ohio State Mansfield a lot of credit. They
played extremely hard for a first year program, and they should be proud of
that. Our team experienced that last season and we're aware of what they
are going through. They are well coached and have a lot of talented players
from the Mansfield area.” stated Coach Mark Sisler.
"I was particularly proud of the way our team
responded after defeats in game's two and four. They challenged us tonight
and the effort our ladies exhibited in game five was well rewarded with a
victory. It's rewarding to see our ladies play well when they give maximum
effort. We play at a higher level when we are pushed.” said the coach.

The Ohio State University at Marion Scarlet Wave women's volleyball team
defeated Ohio University Lancaster in 4 games at the Alber Student Center.

Scarlet Wave falls short to Clark State
Community College
Women’s volleyball team now 10-7
The Scarlet Wave team traveled to Springfield, Ohio to compete against
National Junior College member Clark State Community College, who are
currently ranked third in the OCCAC (Ohio Community College Athletic
Conference).
The Scarlet Wave came out strong as they led
throughout game one, until they reached point 28. Thereafter, Clark
State rallied off 5 straight points to win 30-28. Game two was a
repeat of game one, but the Wave finished well to win 30-28. Game's
three & four were a struggle for the Scarlet Wave team as they couldn't
overcome their own mistakes and Clark State capitalizing on them. The
Wave fell short 19-30, 14-30 in game's three and four.
"Tonight’s match was two-fold for our team.
We started out very impressively in the first two games and then the wheels
fell off. I was particularly pleased with the way we responded to
losing the first game. We rebounded very well and won game two in the
same fashion as we played in game one (which we should have won), stated
Coach Mark Sisler.
Clark State responded back in game three by building
an early lead of 9. "Mistakes on our part dug ourselves into a hole
that we couldn't get out of. It just seemed like we couldn't do
anything right. We learned something tonight about our mental game,
and that should help us recover well going into the latter half of our
season," said Sisler.

an early lead. However, the Wave began to falter at the end to barely
hang on to a match victory 30-28.
"The ladies played very well for the majority of
the match. We weren't as consistent as we should have been, but we
performed when we needed too," stated Coach Mark Sisler.

Scarlet Wave couldn't overcome 6-time ORCC
Champion Ohio State Newark
Women’s volleyball team 9-6
The top two OSU regional campus teams battled each other in Adena Hall
at OSU Newark.
Both teams came out playing strong with the Scarlet
Wave edging out a victory in game one 30-25. Game two saw the same
from both teams, each playing very evenly until the score was tied at 25
each. Then OSU Newark put together 5 great rallies to win game two
30-25. Game's three and four were played very competitively by both
teams, however, the Titans from Newark edged out victory's 30-24, 30-21
respectively over the Scarlet Wave.
"What a fantastic match by both teams! Every
member of these teams played their hearts out and they should feel good
about their performance," stated Coach Mark Sisler.
"We had plenty of opportunities to win the match, but
couldn't get past our own mistakes. I give lots of credit to the
Newark team and their coach Jane Thomasson," said Sisler. "The ladies
really played hard tonight. It was nice to see them maximize their
efforts throughout the match."

Scarlet Wave back on track with victory over
Wright State Lake
Women’s volleyball team 9-5
Game one witnessed both team's leads change several times over before
Scarlet Wave's Bethany White served 8 straight points to close out Wright
State Lake 30-23. Teammates Nikki Boblenz and Katie Jones serving
proved to be too much for the Lakers as the Wave won games two and three
30-20, 30-15 respectively.
"Our team's serving was a difference maker in
tonight's match. I've been stressing that point all season. In
turn we made it difficult for them to pass effectively, which in turn makes
our offense more efficient, stated Coach Mark Sisler.

Ohio State Marion women fall in their inaugural invitational tri-match
Women’s volleyball team now 8-5
The Ohio State Marion Scarlet Wave (#4) women's volleyball team hosted their
very first invitational tri-match against Cincinnati Clermont (#11) and
Rochester College (#7) of Detroit, Michigan. Sunday’s tri-match engaged all
3 USCAA institutions who were nationally ranked in the top 11 among all
United States Collegiate Athletic Associations (USCAA) institutions.
Sunday’s tri-match began with Ohio State Marion pitted
against Cincinnati Clermont. The Scarlet Wave hung tough for most of game
one, but fell short 22-30. Clermont also went on to win game two in the same
fashion, 30-23. But Ohio State Marion re-grouped themselves and battled
through with solid defense to win game three 30-28. In game four the Scarlet
Wave couldn’t overcome Clermont’s quick sets, succumbing 17-30.
Match 2 of the day became a competitive battle after game
one between the Scarlet Wave and Rochester College. The Scarlet Wave led
throughout game two and held on to win convincingly 30-21. Game three was a
repeat of game two, but the roles were reversed as Rochester College won
30-19. Game four became a contest for both teams as they changed leads 11
times. Late in game four, the Scarlet Wave had a 29-26 lead, but could not
hold on, losing the game 31-33.
"Today’s invitational was a success for our new program.
We got an opportunity to compete against two of the better volleyball teams
in the USCAA,” stated Coach Mark Sisler.
"I was particularly proud of the way we played throughout
the day. Two of our three losses have already come from these two teams, but
we challenged them in every game and we were victorious in two of them,”
said the coach.
“Both coaches from Cincinnati and Rochester agreed that
the Scarlet Wave team improved a great deal since their first encounter,”
explained Sisler.

Scarlet Wave defeats newcomer Ohio Christian University
Women’s volleyball team 8-3
Game one went back and forth between the two teams until Ohio Christian
scored their 24th point, at which time the Scarlet Wave called a time-out.
Thereafter, the Wave scored the next 11 out of the games next 12 points,
winning 30-25. Ohio Christian became deflated as the Scarlet Wave put
together a stream of long service rallies to win game two easily 30-14.
In game three the Scarlet Wave team led early 16-6 before Ohio Christian
responded back quickly by scoring 8 straight points. Both teams
competed evenly the rest of the way with the Wave holding on to win 30-27.
"After the time-out in game one, our team woke up and began
to play at our level. The ladies play well when they do that.
Sometimes battling their mental game is just as important as their physical
game," stated Coach Mark Sisler.

The Cougar Classic proved too much for young Scarlet Wave
team
Women’s volleyball team now 7-3
This year's Cougar Classic on the campus of Cincinnati Clermont pinned
two teams with only one loss and the other as undefeated. The
tri-match began with undefeated Indiana East defeating Cincinnati Clermont
in four. The Scarlet Wave then suffered losses to Indiana East and
Cincinnati Clermont in three games each.
Scores from the Indiana East games were 27-30, 23-30, 19-30
respectively. "This Indiana East team has greatly improved since last
year. They have the makings to be very successful this season.
We played very competitively with them, but couldn't overcome their overall
team power,” explained Sisler.
In the second match, Cincinnati Clermont pulled ahead early
in the first game to cruise to a 30-17 victory. "Our loss to Indiana
East in the first match has carried over into this first game,” explained Sisler.
Not much changed for the remainder of the match as the Scarlet Wave fell
20-30, 18-30 respectively.
"Our team knew this tri-match was going to be our first
serious challenge of the season, but it's unfortunate that we couldn't raise
our level of play to match that of our competition," stated Coach Mark
Sisler. "This was a good measuring stick for us, and now we can
continue to better prepare ourselves to become a more competitive team."

Ohio State Marion women claim Penn State tournament title
Women’s volleyball team victorious over 3 Penn State University
regional's
The Ohio State Marion Scarlet Wave women's volleyball team improved its
match record to 5-1, and overall game record to 15-6, while competing in
their first United States Collegiate Athletic Association tournament over
the past weekend, which slated them against 3 Penn State University regional
teams.
They got off to a great start by competing against the host school New
Kensington Friday evening. The Scarlet Wave used their game experience early
by stringing together several long service rallies in set one winning 30-17.
Both teams battled back and forth in set two, but eventually the Scarlet
Wave found their groove and won 30-24. Nikki Boblenz's serving proved to be
too much for New Kensington in set three as she rallied off the first 10
straight points. The Scarlet Wave never looked back as the won set three
30-23.
Saturday's matches began with the Scarlet
Wave competing against Penn State Beaver and last season's PSUAC (Penn State
University Athletic Conference) state champion, Penn State Fayette. In the
first match vs. Beaver, the Scarlet Wave fought hard to get early leads in
establishing themselves as they won sets one and two, 30-19, 30-21
respectively. Both teams changed leads 8 times during set three, but the
Penn State team capitalized on several late errors to capture the set,
29-31. The Scarlet Wave rebounded well as they cruised to a 30-21 victory in
set four. In the final match, the Scarlet Wave put together 5 successful
rallies to pull away from Penn State Fayette in set one, winning 30-21. In
set two, Fayette began to show why they have been the dominating team in the
PSUAC the last 4 years. Late in set two, they pulled ahead 28-25 before the
Scarlet Wave used their last time-out. However, after the time-out, the
Scarlet Wave put together 5 straight points to edge out a 30-28 win. The
final set of the match was all Scarlet Wave as they pulled away a 30-17
victory.
"This was a very rewarding trip for our
volleyball team this weekend. We played our hearts out and came away with
three straight victories over some of the stronger teams in the PSUAC",
stated Coach Mark Sisler.
"I am very pleased with the progression of
our team so far this season. This tournament was a good test for us,
particularly when we had to come back from a few deficits."
According to the coach every Scarlet Wave
team member made significant plays at crucial times throughout the
tournament.
"Our team is gradually improving in every
aspect of the game, especially with our serving and passing. I'm looking
forward to see how we compete in this week's tri-matches." explained Sisler.

Scarlet Wave suffer first loss
to perennial USCAA power Rochester College
Women’s volleyball team couldn't overcome Rochester's experience
The Ohio State Marion Scarlet
Wave women's volleyball team traveled to Rochester College of Detroit,
Michigan in an USCAA contest.
Game scores from the evenings contest
were
25-30,23-30,20-30 respectively.
"Tonight's contest was our first real test of the
season and a great experience for our 2nd year volleyball program. Our
team played very competitively with a team that finished third last year in
the USCAA National Tournament," stated Coach Mark Sisler. "Even though
we lost, our ladies came away with a good understanding of where we fit in
the USCAA."
Rochester College's volleyball team returned many of
the same players that competed in the 2006 volleyball campaign, explained
Sisler.
"I thought we played our best volleyball ever.
But it was noticeable from a coaching viewpoint that Rochester used their
collegiate experience to dismantle us. We were not prepared to play
defense against quick sets and shoots. Even though we suffered our
first loss, we're taking back a lot of positive's from this match.
This match is setting a standard for us to meet," said Sisler.

OSUM women off to a 2-0 start in 2007 season
Women’s volleyball team victorious over the University of Miami Hamilton
team at home opener
The Ohio State Marion Scarlet
Wave women's volleyball team is off to a great start in 2007 with a victory
in 3 sets over ORCC member the University of Miami Hamilton.
The Scarlet Wave started out
sluggish in set one falling behind by 5 early in the set. However, the team
rebounded and took charge with 7 straight rally points. The Scarlet Wave
used their height advantage up at the net with several strong inside kills
to seal set one with a 30-20 win. Set two looked much like the continuation
of set one with the Scarlet Wave controlling the net and their serving
attack. The Scarlet Wave continued to play through the match with good
defense and several strong service aces to win set two 30-19 and set three
30-21.
"Our defense is improving
daily. Our serve receive was also better than theirs, and that made the
difference in the match", stated Coach Mark Sisler.
According to the coach every
Scarlet Wave team member made good plays to keep Miami Hamilton guessing on
defense.
"We were mixing up our balanced
attack. Our strong hitters were successful in hitting the ball hard and
bouncing it off blockers fingertips, and at other times we were dinking it
up and over the blockers. Our team members made some great decisions today
and our teamwork made a huge difference in the outcome," explained Sisler.

& 3 were battled back and forth by both teams; however, Ashland's Club One
team won set two 25-30 and set three 28-30. The Scarlet Wave pulled
themselves together and played very well in set four, putting together

Marion campus team defended Ashland's attacks while offensively putting down
some kills themselves to dismantle the Ashland team on their home court. The
final set score, Scarlet Wave 15, Ashland University 9.
"Our team played the match with
a balanced attack", stated Coach Mark Sisler.
According to the coach 4 of the
team’s strongest hitters played well all evening, with Jessica Price leading
the team in kills with 17, followed by teammates Sara Snodgrass 14, Bethany
White 14, and Jamie Goddard 12.
"With a balanced attack, it
makes it more difficult for the opposing team to key on your team's
strengths," explained Sisler. "For the first match of the season, I think we
also learned something positive about ourselves today".
