Academic Recognition
Honors students at Ohio
State receive recognition for the quality of their work-in and out of the classroom-beginning
their very first year. Outstanding
students are honored by being selected to one or more of the major national academic
Honors societies. Such recognition may begin with initiation into one or both
of the freshman honoraries, Alpha Lambda Delta or Phi Eta Sigma, and may culminate
when you are in election to Phi Kappa Phi or Phi Beta Kappa (Columbus). Recognition
of your completion of an Honors course is indicated on your transcript. Completion
of a senior thesis is noted on your diploma with the designation, "graduate
with distinction." Your college of enrollment may also bestow special recognition
on your diploma. These distinctions include summa cum laude, magna cum laude,
and cum laude distinctions. In
addition there are several recognitions specifically for Ohio State Marion Students:
Babich Writing
