Pottery Artists To Exhibit In Ohio State Marion's Kuhn Fine Arts Gallery
An exhibit by two highly acclaimed Central Ohio artists, titled "Recent Works by Gail Russell and Tom Turner," will be on the display in the Wayne and Geraldine Kuhn Fine Arts Gallery from Feb. 13 to March 16. The gallery is located on the first floor of Morrill Hall on the campus of Ohio State Marion, 1465 Mt. Vernon Ave., Marion. Russell and Turner started Peachblow Pottery in rural Delaware County in 1986 and currently produce both high fired stoneware and porcelain. Turner has been making pots since 1961 and Russell since 1973. Both have their Master Of Fine Art degrees, and are well known in the world of contemporary art pottery. Their work is featured in many books written in the United States, Canada, England, Spain, and Taiwan, and their pots are in public and private collections throughout the United States, to include the Smithsonian Institution. The first 12 years at Peachblow Pottery were spent producing porcelain pottery, but in January of 1999, Turner began a functional stoneware line quite different from his earlier porcelains. Russell continues with her porcelain, her gardens, and her bees. A public reception for the two artists will be held Wednesday, Feb. 21, at noon in the gallery. The Kuhn Fine Arts Gallery serves the north central region of Ohio, and maintains exhibits throughout the year. Gallery hours are Monday through Friday, 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., excluding holidays. Admission is free. For more information, contact (740) 389-6786, extension 6279.
